Are SI diamonds worth buying?
If you’re on a tight budget, SI diamonds are an obvious choice. They have a much lower price point than “Very Slightly Included” (VS) diamonds, yet they’re also very often flawless in appearance to the naked eye. Click through to see the price difference between VS2, SI1, and SI2 clarity grades.
Is SI1 acceptable?
Although the inclusions could be seen with ease using a 10X magnification loupe, SI1 diamonds will usually appear flawless to the naked eye of a casual observer. In fact, SI1 graded diamonds are great for people on a budget as they don’t have to compromise on cut quality to get a larger stone.
Is VVS better than SI?
VVS (Very, Very Slightly Included) and VS (Very Slightly Included) are the next two grading ranges. (You should remember that VVS denotes higher quality than VS.) The bottom two grades on the scale are Slightly Included (SI) and Included (I).
Which diamond quality is best?
Flawless is the top grade in the GIA Clarity Grading System. Diamonds graded Flawless don’t have visible inclusions or blemishes when examined under 10-power (10X) magnification by a skilled and experienced grader. As clarity increases, and if all other value factors are equal, diamond price per carat also increases.

“Slightly Included” (SI) is on the lower end of the range and has two subdivisions. SI1 has the fewest and smallest inclusions, while SI2 has more and larger inclusions. This doesn’t mean that SI clarity diamonds are a poor choice. In fact, most SI1 clarity diamonds will look just as good as a higher clarity diamond.
Which is better VS1 or SI1?
When SI1 diamonds are the best value Round Cut, Princess Cut diamonds: An SI1 or VS2 clarity grade will typically give you an eye-clean diamond. For large diamonds, we recommend a VS1 or VS2 grade, because the larger the diamond, the easier it is to see inclusions.
What diamond clarity should I get?
For diamonds over 2 carats, a clarity grade of VS2 or higher is the safest bet for avoiding any signs of visible inclusions. In diamonds between 1 and 2 carats, clarity grades of SI1 or better will not have inclusions easily visible to the naked eye.
